Daria Cassini – RIP…

It has come to my attention this morning (thanks to my friend, Bill Cappello) that Daria Cassini, the first born daughter of Gene Tierney and Oleg Cassini, has passed away. She died September 11, 2010, just shy of her 67th birthday. Given her many health problems, it is nothing short of miraculous that she lived that long, an obvious testament to the care she was given throughout her life.

My heartfelt condolences go out to to the Cassini and Tierney families.

*****

CASSINI–Daria. My loving sister Daria Cassini ended her journey on September 11, 2010 just prior to her 67th brthday, October 15th. She will always be remembered in the thoughts and prayers of our mother’s and father’s families (Gene Tierney Lee and Oleg Cassini) and in the hearts of my four children and six grandchildren and those who cared for her. A strictly intimate service will be held at a later date in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to ELWYN, 1667 East Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08361 2942 so that other children and adults with challenges can be helped. Tina Cassini.

It’s Outta My Hands Now…

Well, my Lupe Vélez manuscript, along with photos, electronic files, notes and permission letters that clear words from various contributors to print has been packed up and is now winging its way to my publisher…the box weighed 3.7 kilos (about 8 pounds) and cost a whopping $86 to send via airmail! Almost two years of my life, from thought process to finished package has gone into this project…letting it go is bittersweet. Of course, it WILL BE BACK – eventually. The proofs and indexing are to come, but that’s months and months away. For now, and for the first time, it’s outta my hands…my work is done!

See my photo below…yep, it was HEAVY!
