New Book on Jennifer Jones

Acclaimed author, PAUL GREEN, has just announced his latest subject, a long overdue book dedicated to the life and films of actress, Jennifer Jones. Together with a fantastic Foreword (yes, I’ve already read it) written by TCM host, Robert Osborne, this book (available Spring/Summer 2011) may well be his best one yet!

Mr. Green’s newly created blog that is solely dedicated to his upcoming release, Jennifer Jones: The Life and Films is now up and ready for viewing. He welcomes questions and is very receptive to fan queries. Also, he’s now taking pre orders for autographed copies.

Look out for an EXCLUSIVE interview with author, Paul Green, right HERE, very soon! For now, take a look at his blog below.

Hollywood Homicide…

Below: One of the less graphic (I kid you not!) crime scene photos of Hollywood murder victim, Elizabeth Short aka “The Black Dahlia.”

MURDER!

It started with William Desmond Taylor in 1922, and the latest unsolved murder (to date) is that of well-liked publicist, Ronni Chasen. Throughout the decades, there’s been a slew of “whodunits” in between Taylor and Chasen, with the Black Dahlia case being one of the most gruesome of all. The mutilated body (she was severed at the waist) of Elizabeth Short was found on January 15, 1947, her gruesome end and the mystery surrounding it has inspired several book and film adaptions.

Read article link below for more info on several Hollywood murders throughout the years…if you’re a Hollywood historian, you’ll probably remember most of them, but it’s a stark reminder of the seedy side of Hollywood – then and now!

A sad sign of the times, I’m afraid 😦

However, when everyone sits down to watch, “It’s A Wonderful Life” for the 1000th time this Christmas, think about the hours of joy and entertainment that Jimmy Stewart has given YOU over the years…an iconic American hero, he can’t be forgotten and lost to future generations. The modest museum is operated in his home town of Indiana, PA.

Don’t Mess With Perfection…Robert Zemeckis Knows It…

Robert Zemeckis Will NOT Direct Oz Remake

And, despite being a great visionary, Zemeckis obviously realized that those are some awfully big ruby slippers to fill!

That said, when will Warner Bros. realize the same?

I get the horrible feeling that the studio WILL continue to look for a director with an ego big enough to think a remake can improve, or even top, the original.

Career suicide? Yep!

Box office bomb? Yep!

We’re not talking about an adaptation of an “Oz” story here, we’re talking about an exact page for page remake of the original 1939 script! It should be illegal!!!

Tom Hanks recently turned down the lead in a “Harvey” remake, refusing to even look at the script because of the realization that no one, not even him, could fill Jimmy Stewart’s shoes. It’s a moral issue and I was glad to see that Hanks had the foresight and RESPECT to leave well enough alone. I was, however, extremely disappointed to learn that Steven Spielberg was on board as director! Spielberg?! Yep, Steven Spielberg!

What was HE thinking?

Don’t mess with perfection!

As a fan of William Holden, I’m really looking forward to finally hearing some stories directly from his lover of ten years, Stefanie Powers.
